SE-11 Signal Lamp

In 1943, the War Department signed a contract with JA Maurer Inc. for the manufacture of long-range signal lamps. This device was to allow communication between two people spaced at a distance of more than a kilometer. It could be turned on and off using a trigger or using the J-51 Remote Manual Controller and its CD-701 power cord . The control actuated a relay in the M-227 lamp . An M-341 rifle - type stock with sight allowed its use without the LG-21 tripod . The tripod is telescopic and unfolds to reach a height of 1 meter. The feet are fitted with small spikes which allowed them to sink into the ground to ensure the stability of the whole.

The MC-430 red filter at the end of the lamp is removable to allow the use of white light. Finally, the M-172 glasses allow an improvement in night vision, namely that the lamp did not produce any infrared light.

The power was supplied using 5 1.5 volt BA-30 batteries. A resistor of 1/4 W 1000 Ohms made it possible to avoid overheating of the lamp.

This lamp will be provided in each parachute company. One lamp per company.
